Turn Awareness into Action

June is MG Awareness Month around the world! Every year at this time, the MG Community TAKES ACTION and creates awareness to make sure people understand the challenges and opportunities faced by those diagnosed with myasthenia gravis and their caregivers. We all need to take action, so our theme for 2022 is MG Action Month – Turning Awareness into Action. MGFA is offering a number of creative ways to show that WE ARE MUCH MORE THAN OUR MG. Start planning your MG Action Month activities TODAY!!

MGFA Awareness Toolkit

Check out our latest MGFA Awareness Toolkit Online HERE for fun and creative ideas to drive awareness no matter where you live in the world.

Drive Awareness Activity Today!

MG MONTH AWARENESS INTERACTIVE MAP: Check out where people across the globe are taking action to boost fundraising, research, and advocacy efforts to support those affected by MG. Add your activities and photos to be part of the #MGStrong Map today.

PROCLAMATIONS: Meet with or call legislative leaders to secure a PROCLAMATION officially declaring June as MG Awareness Month. Use our handy PROCLAMATION SAMPLE DOCUMENT to help you write a request. Please work on this soon to have it in time for June.

MEDIA COVERAGE OF MYASTHENIA: Reach out to local broadcast and print media in your region, and “pitch” reporters to cover the challenges that MG patients face. Tell them your story, pitch them on key legislation, talk about your life with MG. Even write a article that you can post in their publication. More training coming but you can use these MEDIA PITCH SAMPLE to help you.

WRITE AN OP ED ARTICLE IN LOCAL PAPER: If you really like writing, go ahead and compose a written op ed piece for your local paper or news source. Simply contact the senior editor, submit your written piece, and watch for the coverage. Check out our OP ED SAMPLE document to learn more and see an example of an op ed piece.

LAWN SIGN: You can download this poster-sized sign and send it to your local print shop or office supply store to be printed. Post the sign prominently outside your home, at the office, or at a local community center to inspire everyone who sees it to take action and ask about MG. Then share the poster link with friends and family and ask them to do the same!

BUILDING AND LIGHTING STRUCTURES: Read page 23 of the MG Awareness Toolkit to learn more about lighting up local buildings and structures in our traditional teal color. Identify an iconic building and find out who the building management company is. You can ask to have the building lit during June. Use the HELPFUL SAMPLE LETTER TO THE BUILDING MANAGEMENT COMPANY

COLOR FOR MG AWARENESS: Relieve stress and color: Check out our brand new #MGStrong coloring page. Great for adults and kids who want to show their commitment to the MG Community by showing that they are always #MGStrong - just like all those living with MG and their caregivers. Take a photo of your artwork and share on social media streams.  DOWNLOAD the COLORING PAGE and print it out and GET CREATIVE!!

DOWNLOAD AND USE THESE SOCIAL MEDIA IMAGES TO SHARE WITH YOUR FOLLOWERS: Use the following SOCIAL MEDIA TILE IMAGES by adding to your posts to suggest calls to action. Click on each one to download and post on your own social media networks. You can also take videos or photos of you engaging in MG Awareness activity - wearing a teal shirt, holding a sign, posting a banner in your yard - and share them on social media with all your friends and followers in your networks.
